Discover a suspension bridge: explore this hidden gem – a 41-meter suspension bridge over the Goldstream River. Take in the sights as you enjoy the 1.6km hike from the Humpback Reservoir into the bridge. Bring your camera for some great photo opportunities.
Go bird watching: take a stroll around Langford Lake and observe the diverse birdlife that makes their home in Langford: a bird trail outpost. As you meander dKeep your eyes peeled for American Coots, mergansers, and plenty of different duck species. Start the trail at Langford Lake Beach Park or from Goldstream Ave.
Visit The Langford Station: visit The Langford Station, the arts and culture district in the heart of downtown Langford. Appreciate local artists, retailers, murals, sculptures and interactive lighting installations. Take it all in and leave feeling inspired.
Take in the sights at Whiffin Spit: walk along the winding Whiffin Spit, a narrow strip of land surrounded by the stunning coastal waters of the Salish Sea. Enjoy the vast ocean view & the rugged landscape – a playground for your eyes.
Explore Race Rocks lighthouse: treat your eyes to a breathtaking sight – this granite lighthouse is a work of beauty. Marvel at the rugged beauty of the rocky coastline and keep an eye out for seals, sea lions, and other marine wildlife.
Have a whale of a time: join a whale watching tour or marine wildlife viewing tour to experience the majesty of these creatures. Allow your eyes to explore and take in the sights and views of the open ocean.
Watch the surfers: Head to Sombrio Beach, where you can watch experienced surfers tackle the waves. Take in the views of the rugged coastline and listen to the crashing waves as you marvel at the skill of the surfers.
Take a helicopter tour: Take a helicopter tour: See the stunning scenery of Port Renfrew from a different perspective with a helicopter tour. Soar above the coastal forests and rocky beaches and experience what it’s like to fly above this beautiful pocket of the pacific northwest.
Go stargazing: as the sun sets and the stars come out to play, step outside for some stargazing. Marvel at the clarity of the night sky and soak in the peacefulness of the forest around you. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a shooting star.
Take in 360 degree views: the Malahat Skywalk is an absolute show stopper. Wander through the forested boardwalk and stroll up the 10-story spiral tower for the ultimate Island experience. Be rewarded at the top with 360 degree breathtaking views for as far as you can see.
Stop at the Split Rock Lookout: it’s not hard to see the underlying theme of incredible scenery and breathtaking vistas in the Malahat region. The Split Rock Lookout is worth the pit stop as it boasts some of the most incredible views on the Island.
Visit the Yos totem pole: experience the beauty of the Yos totem pole located on the Malahat Connector trail. This incredible work completed by Moy Sutherland Jr. from Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation (Tofino) and John Marston from Stz’uminus First Nation (Chemainus) alongside various Malahat Nation youth, is nestled in the forested lands on the west side of Malahat Mountain at the south end of Shawnigan Lake.
